Class Syllabus
- Learn/Review One Stroke Painting Terminology
- “Brush Up” (review proper brush care)
- Learn how and apply a white wash finish
- Learn the “C” stroke to create pumpkins
- Learn to multi-load the flat to and additional shading and highlights
- Learn/Review the proper loading and use of the flat and scruffy brushes and the scriptliner
- Learn to paint pumpkins freehand
- Review the strokes to paint OS leaves, vines, curlicues, and moss
- Paint and assemble a pumpkin project as time permits
Pre-Class Prep:
- Purchase all the supplies before class
- With your paid registration, Michael’s would like to offer you 10% off your class supplies
- Remove all labels from pot and pumpkin shapes before class
Supply List:
Suggested Surface:
- 3 Wooden Pumpkin Shapes
- 1-4” Clay Pot
- 1- 24” stake or dowel
- Spanish Moss enough to cover the top of the clay pot
- 4” Clay Pot
- Florist Styrofoam square enough to fill the clay pot
Brushes:
- 1059 Plaid One Stroke Value Pack Brushes (best value)
For this project we will be using ¾”, #12 and #8 flat brushes, small and regular scruffy brushes and #2 script liner

- Wicker White
- Pure Orange
- Berry Wine
- School Bus Yellow
- Thicket
- Hauser Green LIGHT
- Sunflower
- Burnt Umber
- Maple Syrup
Plaid Folk Art Mediums & Tools:
- 868 Folk Art Floating Medium
- 1060 One Stroke Brush Basin or any brush basin
Basic Supplies From Home:
- Class registration receipt
- Paper and pencil for note taking
- Paper towels
- 5-10 Styrofoam plates–undivided and not paper
- Apron or similar, to protect clothing from splatters (optional, but highly recommended)
