Class Syllabus

  • “Brush Up” (review proper brush care)
  • Learn about the features and uses for Folk Art’s Enamel paints for glass and ceramics
  • Learn the strokes to paint poinsettias, holly leaves, berries and pine needles
  • Learn how to use patterns
  • Explore project ideas
  • Paint a project

Pre-Class Prep:

  • Purchase all the supplies before class
  • With your paid registration, Michael’s would like to offer you 10% off your class supplies

Surface Prep:

  • 1. Remove label and glue residue.
  • 2. Thoroughly clean and dry platter of choice

Supply List:

SUGGESTED SURFACE:

  • 10" Clear or frosted plate

BRUSHES:

  • 4158 Plaid’s One Stroke Enamels Basic Brush Set
  • Plaid’s One Stroke #2 scripliner

PLAID FOLK ART PAINTS:

  • 4033 Gold (Metallic)
  • 4001 Wicker White
  • 4035 Clear Medium

MEDIUMS & OTHER TOOLS:

  • 1060 One Stroke Brush Basin or any brush basin

BASIC SUPPLIES FROM HOME:

  • Class registration receipt
  • Glass surface such as the glass pane from an old picture frame, this will be used as a practice surface
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Q-tips
  • OPTIONAL: Corresponding paints in Folk Art acrylic paints (since the enamel paints are more expensive, we’ll learn the strokes in the regular acrylic paints, if you don’t already have the corresponding colors or similar, purchasing them is optional as the instructor will have extra on hand)
  • Paper and pencil for note taking
  • Paper towels
  • 5-10 Styrofoam plates–undivided and not paper
  • Apron or similar, to protect clothing from splatters (optional, but highly recommended)
